US passport - did our NZeTA for a South Island road trip. Approved within the hour, and they explained the conservation levy was already included. Smooth at Auckland.

What fellow traveler said about the visa application with us
UK passport - good to know my UK passport gives a 6-month stay, not 3. The team confirmed it and reminded me to do the Traveller Declaration before flying.
German passport - booked a cruise that called at NZ ports and did not realise cruise passengers still need an NZeTA. eVisas sorted all four of us before we sailed.
Who needs a New Zealand eTA
Read the details below
If you hold a passport from one of the 60 visa-waiver countries - including the UK, US, Canada, the EU, Japan and South Korea - you do not need a visa, but you must hold an NZeTA before you fly or board a cruise.
Australian citizens do not need one; everyone else needs a visitor visa. Your NZeTA includes the Conservation and Tourism Levy and lasts 2 years for multiple visits.

Frequently Asked Questions
We offer three speeds: Express 12 working hours, Priority 2 working days, and Standard 3 working days. New Zealand Immigration usually issues the NZeTA within minutes, but it can take up to 72 hours if extra checks are needed - so our tiers guarantee a firm timeline. Apply at least a few days before you fly or board your cruise. Track every status change from your eVisas dashboard - we email you the moment your approved eTA is ready.
