The eVisa is accepted at Uzbekistan's air and land borders, so it works well for Silk Road trips that cross from neighbouring Central Asian countries; choose double or multiple entry if your route loops out and back.
After you arrive you should be registered within three days: hotels and licensed guesthouses do this automatically and give you a registration slip, which you should keep until you leave.
Many nationalities are visa-free, and from 1 January 2026 US citizens can visit visa-free for up to 30 days.
For official guidance see the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
