About Afghan Passport
Afghan travellers can reach a country in four ways: visa-free, a visa on arrival, an online eVisa or eTA, or an embassy visa. Most destinations need one arranged before you fly.
The Afghan passport currently sits at the bottom of the Henley Passport Index (101st), with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to about 24 countries. With many embassies in Afghanistan closed since 2021, an online eVisa or eTA - done from anywhere and emailed to you - is usually easiest. Keep your passport valid at least six months.

SAARC & visa waiver programmes
Read the travel policy details for Afghan
Afghanistan joined the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in 2007 as its eighth member. The SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme lets certain entitled categories of people travel within the region without a visa - including judges of higher courts, parliamentarians, senior officials, businesspeople, journalists and sportspeople.
This is not a tourist visa waiver. Ordinary Afghan travellers are not covered and still need the relevant visa, eVisa or eTA for their destination.
