About Germany Passport
The German passport is consistently ranked among the very strongest in the world, around 1st on the Henley Passport Index, opening roughly 185 destinations visa-free or with a visa on arrival - including the entire EU and Schengen area, the United States on an ESTA, Japan and Vietnam.
As an EU citizen you enjoy full freedom of movement across Europe. Only a small group of countries still ask for an online eVisa or eTA from Germans - and those are the ones we handle for you. Wherever you travel, keep your passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date.

Read the travel policy details for Germany
As an EU citizen, a German enjoys full freedom of movement: you can travel, live, work and study in any other EU or EEA country and in Switzerland on your passport or national ID card, with no border checks inside the Schengen area and no need for ETIAS.
Germany is also in the US Visa Waiver Program, so the United States is an ESTA away rather than an embassy visa. Two more changes to know: the UK now needs an ETA before you fly, and South Korea K-ETA is currently waived for Germans until the end of 2026. The UK ETA and US ESTA are quick and online, and we can prepare them for you.
